Third-party certifications can provide additional transparency. OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, for example, evaluates textile components against a broad list of regulated substances and chemical limits. Consumers should understand, however, that certifications often apply to specific materials or production stages rather than universally certifying every aspect of a finished garment.

Manufacturing inputs matter too. Chemical inputs can be introduced during dyeing, finishing, printing, trims, or garment assembly. For this reason, responsible product development involves more than simply selecting a single premium fiber.
